A Brief Bibliography

The following books were consulted in the preparation of this work. Once again, use of a work is not an endorsement of the entire work, nor is it an endorsement of the author, publisher or their theology:

• The King James Bible, both the 1611 Edition and the 1881 Revision.
• Baxster's Hexapla. This is a compilation of six English New Testament translations and Scholz Greek New Testament. It includes Wycliffe and Tyndale translations. It is hard to find but a very interesting work. There are reprints in Libraries.
• Tyndale's New Testament by Daniell. A recent work so be careful. The author took Tyndale's translation and made the English easier to understand.
• Interlinear Greek - English New Testament with Rick Berry's Lexicon and Strong's Dictionary. Put out by Baker. A useful work. Each word is coded to Strong's numbers. The work is easier to find without Strong's numbers. This work uses the same manuscript as the King James Version. Stay away from more modern interlinears.
• The Septuagint by Sir Lancelot Brenton. This is put out by Hendrickson as a reprint. He has an English translation in a side column. This work was first published by Samuel Bagster in 1851. The Apostles, it is said were quoting from the Septuagint. The Septuagint is an Old Testament that goes back about 150 - 200 years before the time of The Lord's visitation on earth. The Hebrew Old Testament the Jewish people use today is several hundred years newer. I enjoy this work.
• The New Thayer's Greek - English Lexicon. This has the Greek word meanings in detail and is keyed to Strong's numbers. This work is from the 1880's but the coding to Strong's numbers is recent.
• Strong's Concordance
• Cruden's Concordance
• Webster's Dictionary, 1828 Edition. This gets the words close to the English intended at the time of the KJV translation. Reprints are easy to find.
• Newberry Reference Edition of King James Bible. A useful work that has manuscript discrepancies listed at the bottom of the page for the New Testament. It also allows for you to determine tenses and grammatical fine points of words in Greek and Hebrew. Different words are coded with symbols which help you work through the grammar. Slow and tedious but it works. Has a concordance. In the Old Testament it shows in the side columns the names for God that the King James misses, and this is something that English readers miss out on. I enjoy mine. It can make for a nice daily Bible. Readily available in leather and hardcover.

Other works were used but not to any great extent and the author chose not to mention them.
